Then the fabric was securely glued to 1/4" 5 ply Birch Plywood. This wood is very strong and great for making puzzles with small pieces.Several light coats of varnish have been applied to protect the image. Just enough varnish to protect it but, not so much that you can't still feel the texture of the fabric. The back of the puzzle was treated with Tung Oil and sanded by hand until smooth. Then each puzzle piece was carefully cut one at a time using a super fine (only .008 thickness) scroll saw blade. By using such a fine blade the puzzle pieces have a very tight fit. I don't use any templates or patterns when I cut. Every cut is done free hand!My knobby style of cutting is very interlocking, a few pieces will fall out if you pick the puzzle up by the corner. There are three figurals. One is my signature Shooting Star piece that is signed and dated.
